A wet area of Australian nostalgia, a 7-day a week celebration of archived Australian pop-culture & historical sporting prowess and a place on the corner to remember and celebrate the times we celebrated… Welcome to The Flying Cock.

At its core, it is an assortment of garage sale furniture and reclaimed wood, patched together with professional care and guidance from YouTube, Bunning’s and a Gumtree Classifieds sponsorship, but once you get over that it’s a melting pot of great people, great food, great drinks, great music, great everything.

Coyote Ugly x Pirates of the Caribbean x Dirty Dancing, need we say more? A space built around the concept of ‘escapism’ where many choose not to escape without being escorted. Open on weekends and special occasions, this room becomes an unforgiving hoedown of sweaty proportions on even the most average of nights.

Fast and friendly service is not only requested but also necessary in the environment that Smugglers presents. While there is plenty of quality rum and gin just hanging around, you can’t swing a dead cat around without hitting someone with a house vodka lime soda in their hand.

Unique entertainment for the area is our marker up here and consistency is crucial. Live and engaging hip-hop and pop on a Friday and our house band Birdman Randy bringing it home on a Saturday. For a room that size you can’t give people too many chances to be bored and contemplate leaving so it is necessary for all the entertainers, DJs and bar staff to emit positive energy (insert rainbow emoji).

Not just a row of windows to admire your reflection in as you strut up to the Judith Wright Centre or down to Dominos, this Fortitude Valley icon has pretty much lost everything that made it famous in years passed i.e. pokies, TAB and mouth guards. Shut 3 days a year (and maybe one more for a cheeky staff party), this is the space to visit anytime of the day, as long as it’s after 11.30am and before midnight.

The Cock House is where we serve up our gourmet pub grub consisting of modern takes on pub classics with a slight Americana/Australiana (and now Mexicana) tweaks. Easy fresh juice cocktails are a specialty and are on a come back, with a back bar showcasing a wider range of rums and gins than anything else. Outdoor seating and tables for big groups inside make it a great space for drinks over food or while watching sport, playing trivia and stealing board game pieces.
